Shih Tzu Rescue Centres

Shih Tzu Rescue Centres are organisations who rescue homeless Shih Tzus. They do an amazing job to help rehabilitate and re-home dogs for various reasons. Most of these organisations rely on public funding. Help support these abused, abandoned, and neglected animals.

The Shih Tzu

Shih Tzu means "little lion", though they are far from ferocious! The name most likely arises from its mass of fur. They are very family orientated, and adore human company, often following their humans from room to room. If you're looking for a guard dog then a Shih Tzu is definitely not the dog for you, they're lovers not fighters and are most happy when giving or receiving attention. Think of them more like an affectionate lap dog.

Like many breeds, your little companion may be standoffish with guests at first but will soon welcome them into their home and give all the attention they desire.

They're a small breed of dog, as an adult, weighing between 9 and 16 lbs. Because of their size they're not best suited to families with younger children. Only due to the fact that they may get hurt.
